Town Manager's Report
March 2014

Streets:

·         Staff repaired the stop sign at Pembrook Ct. & Brookfield Dr.

·         Staff plowed and salted a number of streets.

·         Staff repaired some bridge markers on Creamery Rd. at the entrance to Northgate.

·         Repaired fire hydrant #84 at the Silo Hill Parkway carwash.

Water:

·         Rainbow Lake is at the spillway level. 

·         The roughing filters are being backwashed once a day and the DE filters are being done twice per week.

·         Our wells are down an average of 2.8 feet from May 2011 levels. 

·         Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 311,037 GPD.  We consumed an average of 288,775 GPD.

 

 The difference is "Backwash Water" ... (7.2%). We purchased 481,320 gallons of water from MSM this month.

o    48.3% of this water came from wells. 

o      5.0% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's.

o    56.7% of this water came from Rainbow Lake. 

Wastewater:

·         The overland flow treatment system is shut-down for the season.

·         We received about 3.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 4.0 inches).  

o    We have a precipitation SURPLUS of 11.2" over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from October 1 thru March 31 is 21.2".  We have received 32.4" for that period.

·         Wastewater Treatment:

 

o   We treated an average of 470,000 GPD (consumed 388,775 GPD) which means that 38.5% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water". 

o   We had no spills of untreated sewerage in the month of March.

o   We exceeded the plant’s design capacity on three days in the                 month of March.

Trash:  Trash pickup will remain Mondays for the remainder of the month of April.

Parks:

·         Staff turned on the water and opened the rest rooms in the parks.

·         Staff has performed all standard checks in the parks.
