                                                 Town Manager's Report

                                                     January 2010

Streets:

·         Staff repaired several street lights. 

·         Staff installed and repaired several street and stop signs.

·         Staff took down the Christmas decorations.

·         Staff and contractors plowed snow and staff treated streets and alleys.

Water:

·         Rainbow Lake remains at the spillway level. 

·         The roughing filters are being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week.

·         Staff has replaced the water heater at the Water Treatment Plant.

·         Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 330,626 gpd.  We consumed an average of 298,916 gpd.

 

  The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(9.6%). We purchased 373,150 gals. of

  water from MSM this month.

o    47.2% of this water came from wells. 

o    3.6% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's.

o    49.2%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake. 

Wastewater:

·         The overland and flow treatment system has been shut down for the season.

·         Staff will be replacing the sump pump in the valve vault for the Lagoon No. 1 by-pass.

·         We received about 3.9 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.7 inches)

 

o   We have a precipitation surplus of 6.2" over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from August 1 thru January 31 is 22.1".  We have received 28.3" for that period.

 

·         Wastewater Treatment:

 

o   We treated an average of 632,484 gpd (consumed 298,916 gpd) which means that 52.7% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water". 

o   We experienced one spill of untreated sewerage during the month of January.  It was due to high flows and ongoing sewer line construction near the pump station.

 

  January 25 – 58,200 Gallons

·         We exceeded the plant's design capacity on five (5) days during the month of January:

                   1/17    1,370,000 gpd          1/25   3,174,000 gpd

                   1/18       889,000 gpd         1/26    1,119,000 gpd                            

1/24    1,398,000 gpd          

                   

  Trash: 

·         Trash pickup will remain Mondays for the remainder of Month of February, weather permitting.

Parks:

·         Staff performed the monthly maintenance inspection.
