                                                 Town Manager's Report

                                                     December 2009

Streets:

  • Staff repaired several street lights. 

  • Staff installed and repaired several street and stop signs.

  • Staff hung Christmas decorations.

  • Staff and contractors plowed snow and staff treated streets and alleys.

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now at the spillway level. 

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week.

  • Staff has replaced the heater on the generator at Well No. 3.

  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 320,940 gpd.  We consumed an average of 286,534 gpd.

     

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(10.7%). We purchased 370,400 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 43.8% of this water came from wells. 

    •   3.7% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's.

    • 52.5%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake. 

Wastewater:

  • The overland and flow treatment system has been shut down for the season.

  • Staff has switched out the old motor with the spare in Pump No. 2 at the wastewater pumping station.  The spare motor will be rebuilt and placed in reserve.

  • We received about 7.2 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.3 inches)

     

    • We have a precipitation surplus of 6.3" over the last six months, the average precipitation for the period from July 1 thru December 31 is 21.9".  We received 28.2" for that period.

  • Wastewater Treatment:

     

    • We treated an average of 925,000 gpd (consumed 286,534 gpd) which means that 69.0% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water". 

    • We experienced two spills of untreated sewerage during the month of December, both at MH-98.  The pumps couldn't keep up with the high flows.  Dec. 9 - 3,300 Gals. and Dec. 26 - 15,300 Gals.

  • We exceeded the plant's design capacity on 11 days during the month of December:

Parks:

  • Staff performed the monthly maintenance inspection.
