As a new living history organization,
our main objective is to raise awareness and educate
the public and provide a family friendly atmosphere, striving
for a authentic portrayal (historically accurate) of the common
Virginia Volunteer from the Trans-Alleghany area of modern day West
Virginia and Virginia who served so gallantly in the Army of South
Western Virginia.
However, with so much Civil War history along the Mason & Dixon
Line on South Mountain, we also represent other local areas of the Civil War that range
from a North Carolina soldier during the battle of South Mountain to
the Marylander that served at Charleston, South Carolina connecting
those topics to our own local history.
We actively research different aspects of the Civil War of our
local area to provide many presentations and to interpret these topics to
the public to tell the story of the rich Civil War history that lies
within our own backyard. Although the battlefields are quiet, they offer
us visions of their past and stand as a monument for us to see today.
We participate in
re-enactments as well as living histories and other community events.
We are headquartered in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
