ARTIST STATEMENT
Amie G. Tannenbaum is a Fine Art film
photographer exhibiting in the MD/DC/VA area.
Since 2001, her work has garnered considerable
recognition and many top awards. As a member of
the Northern Virginia Photographic Society,
League of Reston Artists and the Arts Council of
Fairfax County, she actively participates in
photography shows, competitions and exhibitions.
Many of her works have been accepted into
regional juried shows, and she has been invited
to exhibit at the Center for the Arts in
Manassas, the Fairfax County Government Center /
Mason District, and most recently, to display
over thirty images at the Washington Technology
Park Corporate Headquarters, and LMI Corporate
Headquarters, all in VA. From December ’05 thru
January ’06, she had a one-person show in
Bethesda, MD, and several of her images can be
found in permanent / private collections around
the PA/MD/VA area.
In addition to her ongoing participation in area
workshops and critiques, Amie is a frequent
lecturer on Abstract Photography at
Georgetown University. She has studied
photographic composition and visual design with
the renowned photographer Freeman Patterson at
workshops in both Canada and South Africa.
Primarily known as a natural light photographer,
Amie specializes in extreme macro/close-up
techniques to capture spectacular “color
impressions” produced by sunlight through
stained glass. ALL her images are created &
composed in-camera and recorded directly
on color slide film --- NO gels, NO filters, NO
artificial light sources are used NOR are any
images digitally manipulated or enhanced by
computer post-capture.
