| Rev. Wade Martin was appointed to serve Trinity United Methodist Church in July of 2001. At that time Trinity was yoked to Catoctin United Methodist Church in Thurmont as a two-point charge. In July of 2004 Trinity,
because of faith and growth, was able to move to a full-time charge. Wade now serves Trinity as their full-time pastor. "To our knowledge this is the first time Trinity has had a full-time pastor in its 170 year history," says a long time congregational member.
Wade received his undergraduate degree from Excelsior College in New York, and received his Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary. Wade is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry degree at Wesley concentrating on Church
Leadership Excellence. In addition to serving Trinity Wade is also involved in several community and denominational groups: Emmitsburg Council of Churches, Thurmont Ministerium, Catoctin Agency School Services Advisory Council, and the Baltimore-Washington Conference Board
of Ecumenical and Interreligious Ministry.
As a second career pastor Wade feels his experience in the U.S. Navy, his management and leadership experience with private and public companies, and his serving as the chair of the board of a nonprofit organization give him a well-rounded
perspective of today's world. "I believe having served in different types of organizations and my exposure to many parts of the world gives me a unique perspective of how to help folks experience the gospel in new and relevant ways," says Rev. Martin.
Wade was born in Takoma Park, Maryland and raised in Rockville, MD where he attended Rockville High School. He was married to his wife Susan in 1983, and has three teenage sons, Jeff, Rusty, Bobby. |
