Staff Activity

  • During November the staff prepared two zoning text amendments and one resolution for the Mayor and Board.

  • On November 8, the staff met with Peter Stephanos a pavement management expert with the Maryland Highway Administration, and Ed Stellfox of the University of Maryland’s Transportation Technology Transfer Center regarding the Town’s contracting with consultants who are qualified to review the status of the streets in Pembrook Woods. The staff is now in receipt of six qualified firms capable of conducting such surveys and is currently soliciting quotes for this job.

  • On November 9, the staff attended a preconstruction meeting with Delaughter and Sons construction, and Fox and Associates as relating to the award of the Little Run sewer bid.

  • On November 10, the staff met with representatives of Baker Engineering to finalize plans for the AT&T Cable project coming through Emmitsburg. Construction has now commenced and the Town is in receipt of the required $103,641 permit fee.

  • On November 11, The staff along with Mayor Hoover, Commissioner Rosensteel, and Mr Haller attended the Frederick County MML’s annual legislative agenda dinner.

  • On November 23, the staff, Mayor Hoover, Commissioner O’Neil, Mr. Haller and a representative of Senator Sarbanes met with Mr. Les Hall Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Maryland Department of Economic Development to discuss a CDBG block grant application the Town is submitting for funding for major infrastructure improvements.

  • On November 30, the staff, Mayor Hoover and Mr. Haller, met with Greg Kosmas and Patricia Xeller of the Maryland Department of Economic Development in Frederick regarding economic assistance for a major industrial prospect.
