Town Manager's Report

May 2010

Streets:

·         Staff installed the seasonal “speed bumps” on Timbermill Run in Brookfield. 

·         Staff installed a new “stop” sign at the intersection of Jamison Avenue and West Main Street.

·         Staff has repaired a number of street lights.

·         Staff made a number of “cold patch” paving repairs around town.

Water:

·         Rainbow Lake remains at the spillway level. 

·         The roughing filters are being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week.

·         Staff flushed the supply line from Rainbow Lake to the treatment plant.

·         Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 312,501 gpd.  We consumed an average of 278,470 gpd.

 

 The difference is "Backwash Water" ... (8.9%). We purchased 319,560 gallons of

 water from MSM this month.

 

o    43.1% of this water came from wells. 

o      3.3% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's.

o    53.6% of this water came from Rainbow Lake. 

Wastewater:

·         The overland and flow treatment system is up and running for the season.

·         Staff has been performing standard maintenance on the sewer plant and pumping station.

·         We received about 5.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 4.5 inches).

 

o    We have a precipitation surplus of 8.4" over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from December 1 thru May 31 is 22.2".  We have received 30.6" for that period.

 

·         Wastewater Treatment:

 

o    We treated an average of 480,000 gpd (consumed 278,470 gpd) which means that 42.0% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water". 

o    We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of May. 

o    We exceeded the plant's design capacity on three (3) days during the month of May: 

5/22 – 993,000 GPD            5/23    1,961,000 GPD         5/27    812,000 GPD

Trash: 

·         Trash pickup will remain Mondays for the remainder of month of June.

Parks:

·         Staff has been mowing, trimming and performing general maintenance in the parks.

·         Staff has been performing general seasonal preparation at the swimming pool.
