                                                 Town Manager's Report

Streets:

  • Staff repaired several street lights 

  • Staff has installed "no loitering" signs at the Community Center

  • Staff has flushed several fire hydrants

  • Staff has made some "cold patch" repairs to Creamery Road

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is mow 5" below the spillway level (up 10" from last month)

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has completed the e-coli testing of the lake water and the results are very good ...only 1/3 of the allowable level

  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 345,308 gpd.  We consumed an average of 300,873 gpd 

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(12.9%). We purchased 373,700 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 47.6 of this water came from wells 

    •   3.5% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 48.9%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • The overland and flow treatment system has been shut down for the season

  • Staff has been trimming and cutting trees and brush out of the perimeter fence at the wastewater treatment plant

  • We received about 6.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.5 inches)

    • We have a precipitation surplus of 6.4" over the last six months, the average precipitation for the period from May.1 thru October.31 is 23.9" and we received 30.3" for that period

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 630,000 gpd (consumed 300,873 gpd) which means that 52.2% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water". (up from 7.9% last month) 

    • We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of August

  • We exceed the plant's design capacity on 8 days during the month of October

  Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Mondays for the remainder of Month of November

Parks:

  • Staff and the contractor recently completed the installation of the new replacement play ground equipment in Community Park

  • Staff performed the monthly maintenance inspection, mowing and trimming

Meetings Attended:

  • 10/02 I attended a meeting of the Fire museum Board of Directors

  • 10/06 I attended the Frederick County Commissioners meeting at which they reviewed the Thurmont Region Comp Plan

  • 10/13 I met with a local surveyor to discuss the comp plan update

  • 10/15 I attended a budget meeting with staff and the auditors

  • 10/15 I attended the pre-construction meeting for the Lincoln Ave. W&S rehab project

  • 10/15 I attended the BOCC/Municipal meeting

  • 10/15 I attended the Frederick County Chapter f the MML meeting to discuss action of the BOCC

  • 10/21 I attended the mayor's staff meeting

  • 10/30 I met with local realtor to discuss the Comp plan update
