                                                 Town Manager's Report

                                                     March 2009

Streets:

  • Staff repaired and installed a number of street signs

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff salt treated a number of streets and sidewalks

  • Staff cleaned East & West Main Street

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now full and holding at the spillway level

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff  has repaired the chemical body feed system at the existing water treatment plant

  •  

  • Staff has begun the construction of a gravel road to service Well "J".  This road will be needed daily when the Emmit Gardens water treatment plant is constructed                                                                       

  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 329,817 gpd.  We consumed an average of 286,823 gpd 

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(13.0%).   We purchased 343,200 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 47.5% of this water came from wells 

    •   3.4% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 49.1%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • The overland and flow treatment system remains shut-down for the season

  • Staff has cleaned the chlorine contact tank and the post aeration tank at the wastewater treatment plant

  • We received about 2.3 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.9 inches)

    • We have a precipitation deficit of 3.4" (Sept. 08 had 7.7" of rain) over the last six months. The average precipitation for the period from Oct. 1 thru March 31 is 21.2" and we received 17.8" for that period

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 350,000 gpd (consumed 286,823 gpd) which means that 18.1% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of March

  • We exceeded the plant's design capacity one in the month of March

  • 03/29   888,000 gals.     

 

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of April, 2009

Parks:

  • Staff pumped-out and cleaned the Community Pool

  • Staff made a number of repairs to the bleachers and installed the "ball field mix' at the Little League Field

  • Staff worked on the new ceiling in the pool pavilion

  • Staff planted five trees in Community park near the play ground area

  • Staff installed a new rope on the flag pole at the Little League field
