                                                 Town Manager's Report

Streets:

  • Staff cold patched some pot holeson West North Ave

  • Staff installed the new post, stop & street sign on Stoner Lane for the second time in recent months

  • Staff repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff cleaned East & West Main Street

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now full and holding at the spillway level, but may soon begin to drop

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has applied copper sulfate to Rainbow Lake

  • We are nearing completion and final hook-up of the generator project at well #3

  •  

  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 349,200 gpd.  We consumed an average of 285,900 gpd 

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(18.1%)(*).   We purchased 354,950 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 46.9% of this water came from wells 

    •   3.3% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 49.8%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

    • (*) Staff is performing an inspection of the plant as we may have an internal leak which this number appears to indicate

Wastewater:

  • The overland and flow treatment system is now up and running for the season

  • Staff has been discharging to the irrigation system at Mason Dixon Farms this month

  • We received about 3.8 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.6 inches)

    • We have a precipitation surplus of 0.2 over the last six months, the average precipitation for the period from Feb. 1 thru July 31 is 23.2" and we received 23.4" for that period

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 289,000 gpd (consumed 285,900 gpd) which means that 01.1% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of May

  • We did not exceed the plant's design capacity during the month of July 

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Mondays for the Month of August

Parks:

  • Staff "drug" removed weeds from the major softball field in Community Park

  • Staff removed graffiti again in Community Park, this time it was the sliding board

  • Staff performed the monthly maintenance inspection

  • Staff performed some caulking and painting in the Memorial Park Bathrooms

  • Staff removed the old play-ground equipment from Community Park

  • 07/08  Meeting with the design engineers for the proposed Emmit Gardens water plant

  • 07/10  Meeting with Fox & Associates related to Lincoln Ave. project

  • 07/16  Meeting with Sue Cipperly related to comprehensive plan update

  • 07/16  Met with Frederick County Commissioners and municipal leaders monthly meeting

  • 07/21  Met with Frederick County Building Management staff

  • 07/22  Mayor's staff meeting

  • 07/24  Met with Sue Cipperly and staff from the Provincial House

  • 07/29  Met with staff related to Grease Trap ordinance
