                                                 Town Manager's Report

                                                      September 2008

Streets:

  • Staff  maintained flower hanging pots on the square

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff worked with Gray Construction to replace broken and misaligned sidewalk on Main Street

  • Staff installed speed-bumps on Timbermill Run

  • Staff put up "Fallen Firefighters" banners

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now about 12" below the spillway (up from 19" below last month) 

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Copper Sulfate has been applied to Rainbow Lake.  Beginning this month we will be testing our raw water monthly for E. Coli for the next year

    Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 335,545 gpd.  We consumed an average of 291,253 gpd (down 9,999 gpd or 40 taps from last month)   

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(13.2%).   We purchased 252,200 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 48.3% of this water came from wells 

    •   2.5% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 49.2%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff is continuing to operate the overland flow treatment system

  • We received about 7.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 4.3 inches)

    • We have a surplus of 6.8" of  precipitation over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from Apr 1 thru Sept. 30 is 24.2" and we have received 31.0" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 559,000 gpd (consumed 291,253 gpd) which means that 47.9% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced no spill of untreated sewerage during the month of August       

  • We exceeded the plant's design capacity during the month of September

  • 9/06  1,957,000 gal.    9/12     933,000 gal.     9/26  801,000 gal.

  • 9/27   2,159,000         9/28   1,534,000 gal

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of October, 2008, 

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff installed additional receptacles in the bandstand

  • Staff performed some additional painting of the bandstand

  • Staff replaced the wooden seats on the picnic table in Silo Hill Park

  • Staff worked on removing graffiti off of the Community Park restrooms

  • Staff performed standard mowing and trimming
