                                                 Town Manager's Report

                                                      November 2008

Streets:

  • Staff  cleaned East and West Main Street

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff put snow flags on fire hydrants

  • Staff installed swags around town

  • Staff took up speed bumps on Chesapeake, Lincoln and North Avenues

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now about 12" below the spillway  

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has thoroughly cleaned the entire treatment plant

    Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 317,179 gpd.  We consumed an average of 272,923 gpd 

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(14.0%).   We purchased 296,300 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 47.2% of this water came from wells 

    •   3.1% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 49.7%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff is continuing to operate the overland flow treatment system

  • Staff has thoroughly cleaned the entire control building

  • We received about 2.9 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.6 inches)

    • We have a precipitation deficit of 0.3" over the last six months. The average precipitation for the period from June 1 thru Nov. 30 is 22.9" and we have received 22.6" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 388,000 gpd (consumed 272,923 gpd) which means that 29.7% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced no spill of untreated sewerage during the month of October       

  • We exceeded the plant's design capacity two days during the month of November

  • 11/15  998,000 gal.             11/30   966,000 gal.

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of December, 2008, with the exception of December 25th which will have no pick-up.

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff performed standard mowing and trimming
