Town Manager's Report
March 2008

Streets:

  • Staff  installed no parking signs on Cedar Avenue

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff made some cold patch street repairs

  • Staff cleaned storm drains on Irishtown Road

  • Staff repainted parking spaces on Silo Hill Parkway

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now flowing over the spillway and our five wells appear to be recovering well

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff is preparing to rebuild (re-sock) another of the DE filters

    Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 360,170 gpd.  We consumed an average of 312,974 gpd   

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(13.1%).   We purchased 302,412 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 48.7%      of this water came from wells 

    •  2.9%      of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 48.4%      of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff is continuing to operate the overland flow treatment system

  • We received about 4.4 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.95 inches)

    • We have a surplus of 1.7" of  precipitation over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from Oct 1 thru March 31 is 21.0" and we have received 22.7" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 698,000 gpd (consumed 312,974 gpd) which means that 55.2% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".   

    • We experienced no spills of untreated sewerage during the month of March

    • We exceed the plant's design capacity on 8 days during the month of March

    • 03-07   1,194,000 gpd,    03-08   1,384,000 gpd      03-08  890,000 gpd

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of April, 2008

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff repaired the girls dougout roof in Memorial Park

  • Staff painted all pavilion picnic tables

  • 03/19 Met with staff related to Frederick County's "Lock Down and Shelter In Place" Policy

  • 03/26 Project kick-off meeting related to proposed new water treatment plant
