Town Manager's Report
June 2008

Streets:

  • Staff  installed flower hanging posts on the square

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff repaired storm drain grate on Silo Hill Parkway

  • Staff worked with Dixie Electric to pull wiring for South Seton Avenue new street lights

  • Staff worked with the contractor to install plantings on the grassy mound on the south side of MD Rte 140 near the Jubilee Store

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now flowing over the spillway and our five wells appear to have recovered

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has recently flushed the raw water main from Rainbow Lake to the water treatment plant

    Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 354,373 gpd.  We consumed an average of 306,237 gpd   

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(13.6%).   We purchased 319,620 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 48.2% of this water came from wells 

    •   3.0% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 48.8%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff is continuing to operate the overland flow treatment system

  • We received about 3.9 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 4.3. inches)

    • We have a surplus of 5.2" of  precipitation over the last six months.  The average precipitation for the period from Jan 1 thru June 30 is 23.3" and we have received 28.5" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 302,000 gpd (consumed 306,237 gpd) which means that 0.0% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced no spill of untreated sewerage during the month of June       

  • We did not exceed the plant's design capacity during the month of June

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of July, 2008, 

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff replaced some bleacher seats in Memorial Park

  • Staff installed a new handicap swing in Memorial Park

  • Staff installed new ladder steps at the swimming pool

  • Staff did a "walk-thru" with Lions Club representatives for Community Day activities

  • Staff performed standard mowing and trimming
