                                                 Town Manager's Report

Streets:

  • Staff  worked with the contractor to re-pave North Federal Avenue

  • Staff has repaired a number of street lights

  • Staff salt treated a number of streets

  • Staff repaired a number of parking meters

  • Staff replaced the signs and post at Chesapeake and Lincoln Avenue

Water:

  • Rainbow Lake is now full and holding at the spillway level

  • The roughing filters are now being backwashed twice per day and the DE filters are being done once per week

  • Staff has been taking regular e-coli tests, as now required by MDE, and results have been very low counts, well within allowable limits

  •                                                                           

  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 318,258 gpd.  We consumed an average of 273,258 gpd 

    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(14.1%).   We purchased 388,800 gals. of water from MSM this month.

    • 43.9% of this water came from wells 

    •   3.9% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's

    • 52.2%  of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • Staff has shut down the overland flow treatment system for the season

  • Pump No. 1 at the sewage pump station has been rebuilt 

  • We received about 5.7 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.3 inches)

    • We have a precipitation surplus of 2.3" over the last six months. The average precipitation for the period from July 1 thru Dec. 31 is 22.1" and we have received 24.4" for that period. 

  • Wastewater Treatment:

    • We treated an average of 783,000 gpd (consumed 273,258 gpd) which means that 65.1% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water".  

    • We experienced one spill of untreated sewerage during the month of December (December 11) at MH #98 (7200 gals)       

  • We exceeded the plant's design capacity 9 days during the month of December

Trash: 

  • Trash pickup will remain Monday and Thursday for the Month of January, 2009

Parks:

  • Staff made all standard checks and emptied trash cans

  • Staff installed two new benches in Community Park
