Town Manager's Report
April   2006

Streets:

  • Staff removed a few parking meters and painted some curb yellow on West Main Street (per SHA specs) to support the pedestrian crossings
  • The paving of DePaul Street has been completed
  • Staff installed and repaired a number of street signs
  • Staff installed a speed bump on Chesapeake Avenue

Water:

  • Staff is working with "Maryland Rural Water" to perform a water delivery system leak audit
  • The roughing filters are being backwashed everyday and the DE filters every 7th day
  • Staff has arranged for a new chemical supplier at the water treatment plant
  • We have contracted a local trapper to trap the beavers at Rainbow Lake.  The trapper has trapped a few of the beavers
  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 386,637 gpd.  We consumed an average of 358,162 gpd.
    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(6.0%).   We purchased 400,750 gals. of water from MSM this month.
    • 54.5% of this water came from wells 
    •  3.5% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's
    • 42.0% of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • We had one raw sewerage spill in the Month of April.  April 22 / 3,760 gals.  We received 1.1 inches of rain that day
  • We received about 3.3 inches of precipitation this month (the average is 3.8 inches)
  • Wastewater Treatment:
    • We treated an average of 383,000 gpd (consumed 358,162 gpd) which means that 6.5% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water"
    • We exceeded the plant's design capacity one day in the month of April        4/22  .... 1,441,000 gpd

Trash:

  • Trash pickup days will remain Monday & Thursday for the month of May (except for May 29th - Memorial Day)

Parks:

  • Staff has been working on the ballfields and dougouts
  • Staff has made a number of general repairs in preparation for the Spring season
  • Staff has completed the installation of the 4" storm water pipe and catch basin in Memorial Park to better drain the Little League fields
  • Staff is working with contractors to assess and repair the electrical supply situation at the Memorial Park bathrooms
