Ted Brennan

Ted Brennan was elected to the Town Council for a one-year term on April 16, 2002.

Ted was born in Washington, D.C. on September 15, 1968. Soon after his birth, his parents, Joe and Annette Brennan of Gettysburg, moved their growing family to Olney, Maryland where Ted spent most of his life with his two brothers and a sister. Ted moved to Emmitsburg in December of 1995 after he married his wife, the former Stephanie Hess.

Ted is a 1986 graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, Maryland and a 1990 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Relations. During his college years, Ted was enrolled in the Naval ROTC program, where he was selected to become a Marine Corps officer. Unfortunately, a medical condition prevented Ted from pursuing a career in the Marines.

After returning home, Ted found a career in politics, first working as legal assistant in a Washington law firm and then working for the American Legislative Exchange Council, a state-level advocacy group. In 1994, Ted began working in the office of Congressman Ballenger, a Republican from North Carolina. There he served in several capacities, first as a legislative Assistant, then moving up the ranks to legislative director and press secretary. Today, Ted serves as the Professional Staff Member for the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee. He assists the Subcommittee staff director in covering Latin American and Caribbean issues for the Subcommittee’s Chairman, Representative Cass Ballenger.

In Emmitsburg, Ted has served on the Board of Appeals and for three years as the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He is married and has three children, Emeline, Erin and Joseph.

Ted currently serves as the Chairman, Emmitsburg Ethics Commission.
