No sheep showing clinical signs of contagious,
infectious or external parasitic disease, including foot rot and sore mouth, will be admitted to
any show.
All show sheep must be individually identified
by an ear tag or tattoo, and this identification must be listed on the health certificate.
An accredited veterinarian shall examine he flock of
origin, including sheep consigned to a show. The veterinarian must prepare the original health
certificate, AAI-13, and must state on the health certificate that he examined the entire flock and
found no evidence of contagious, infectious or external parasitic disease. The date of the
examination must appear on the health certificate, which is acceptable, legal, for 90 days from the
date of the examination, for intrastate animals. An interstate animal is 30 days.
Certification by the owner and accredited
veterinarian that the identified animal(s) is not known to have been exposed to scrapie.
All sheep except whethers must bear an official
USDA/APHIS eartag to be exhibited at the show. Sheep from flocks on the voluntary scrapie program
must bear the official eartag, tattoo, or electronic ear implant.
General Rules
Exhibitor must own all entries for at least 30 days
prior to day of showing.
Any animal of unthrifty nature, unsuitable condition,
or which cannon be satisfactorily handled under show conditions must be removed from the fair grounds.
A Pen of Lambs consists of two ram lambs and two ewe lambs.
A Flock consists of one ram, any age;
two ewes, one year and under two years; and two ewes less than one year.
Breeder's Young Flock consiss of one ram lamb
and two ewe lambs, all born to and owned by exhibitor.
A Get of Sire consists of four breeding animals,
any age or sex, the get of one site. Get of Sire need not be owned by exhibitor.
Registration papers and health papers must
accompany animals.
Space is limited. Entries will be accepted
on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the event that space for all entries is not possible,
each exhibitor will be limited to 6 head.
