FROM BARBARA . . .
We are so blessed by God. We
have such marvelous
celebrations and opportunities
to experience God in our lives.
Today, we celebrate God in the
Holy Trinity, one of the great
mysteries of our faith. We
believe in one God but in three
persons. Huh! How can that be?
My mind can’t wrap around that.
Legend has it that St. Patrick
used the shamrock to illustrate
the Trinity, but it’s still not
easy to understand. The beauty
of being a faithful people is
that we don’t have to
understand something to believe
it. It doesn’t have to have a
scientific explanation for us
to celebrate it. That’s what
makes it easy to be a
Catholic-Christian. It’s also
what makes it hard because in
today’s world people want an
explanation. Saying it’s a
mystery just doesn’t cut it
with some people. But that’s
okay, we believe and therefore
we don’t need an explanation.
God loves us unconditionally as
the perfect Parent, as the
ideal Brother, and as the most
stirring Spirit. What more do
we need?
As Catholics we are a people
of celebration. The past few
months have been filled with
celebrations of the sacramental
nature with several weddings,
lots of baptisms, 27 First Holy
Communions, a few folks were
anointed, many people were
reconciled, and today 29 young
people will be confirmed. In
addition, Fr. Jack celebrated
20 years as a priest this past
week. What a great reason for
our entire parish community to
party. Hope you’ll join us next
week for our next celebration –
the Eucharist. We do it every
week, same time, same place.
We’ll have the scripture
stories to tell, enough food
and drink in Holy Communion,
and fellowship with other
parishioners. From beginning to
end it’s full of wonderful
things. Don’t miss a minute.
Think about inviting a friend
to join you because everyone is
welcome. No RSVP necessary.
Thanks to all the folks who
agreed to run for pastoral
council. We’ll have the results
in next week’s bulletin. We’re
still counting the ballots.
(The Democrats and Republicans
aren’t the only folks having
election year fun!)
Finally, congratulations to
all who will be graduating this
year. It’s a great step in the
lives of young people to move
on to the next phase of life.
Whether that’s elementary
school, middle school, high
school, college or the working
world it’s an exciting time.
Know that you are all in our
prayers as you transition to
the next new adventure.
May God continue to bless us
all.
