The first series of topics we are proud to offer is the overview of the battle of Monterey Pass and the actions along the Emmitsburg and Waynesboro Pike. We also focus on northern Frederick County, Maryland, modern day Blue Ridge Summit and the greater South Mountain area, tying in historical sites along the Appalachian Trail such as the Civil War history of High Rock and how it was used by Union Troops. "Monterey Pass in a Box" is an educational program that deals with the topography of the Monterey area and how it played an important role in the battle of Monterey Pass. "Monterey Pass, the Gateway of Agony" is a collection of human interest stories as told by the soldiers who fought or marched through Monterey Pass and the civilians who played an important role in the actions that took place here.

Our dressed interpreters will discuss various topics such as Cole's Cavalry, Company "C" that was raised in the Gettysburg and Emmitsburg, Maryland area, as well as the average Virginia or North Carolina Confederate Infantryman. We also offer impressions of a Confederate Cavalryman, Confederate Artillerist and Federal Infantryman. We discuss the way of life for the average enlisted soldier and talk about the equipment they carried on campaign. The Baltimore Rebels is a subject that is never discussed or often overlooked.  We'll tell you the story how more than 500 Marylander's enlisted in the defense of South Carolina and witnessed the bombardment of Fort Sumter. Emmitsburg resident Alonzo Barry fought in North Carolina at Forts Fisher and Anderson as a member of the 1st North Carolina Heavy Artillery and 3rd North Carolina Light Artillery. Another of our unique Civil War programs include our "Knapsack Program", where you see what the average, well equipped soldier carried.  This program has become extremely popular with children as well adults.

On the other end of the spectrum we have a women's program that will give you a sense of what it was like to be a woman in that time period and how not just their daily lives changed but how their whole world was altered with the outbreak of the Civil War.

Our newsiest Civil War impression features a Confederate soldier from the Army of Tennessee where we talk about the different uniforms compared to the Army of Northern Virginia, Department of North Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida as well as the Army of South Western Virginia. All of our uniforms are museum quality reproductions from a few selected Civil War sutlers.
