The 22nd Virginia History Society preserves the
history of the original unit by archiving documents
donated by various sources and descendants. Please feel
free to browse through our website. Unlike other history
societies which rely upon regular meeting and periodic
articles to share their work, we are a 'virtual
historical society,' meaning that most of our work is
online for everyone to access and contribute to.
Although the battlefields are quiet, they offer us
visions of their past and stand as a monument for us to
see today. The 22nd Virginia Infantry's past is slowly
fading away. Information on the regiment is very limited
and it's up to people such as ourselves to see that it's
name, those who served, and the battlefields that they
fought on are preserved for future generations to enjoy
and learn from. If you have any information regarding
the 22nd Virginia Infantry and would like to have it
posted on this website please feel free to contact us.
We hope you find our site rewarding and fun, and please,
tell us your family stories!
As a re-enacting organization, we portray and educate
the public about the Virginia Volunteers from the Trans-Alleghany
area of modern day Western Virginia and Virginia who
served so gallantly in the 22nd Virginia Infantry
Regiment. For more information on re-enacting, please
visit the
Re-enacting Section
of this website. We are based out of
Waynesboro Pennsylvania.
