A Special Thanks...
My
personal thanks goes out to everyone who submitted the
information within these pages, and for making this
website a success. I also want to extend a heart felt
thanks to Terry Lowry for allowing us to use his
material and putting it's content up online. I'd like to
especially thank my wife who has helped me transcribed
some of the material.
As you can tell, we have a long way to
go to fill in the gaps. Our main objective is to raise
awareness and educate the public about the historical
significance these men took part in shaping America as
we know it today. Unlike a traditional history book,
which forges a set path through time, hyper-linking
allows readers to follow any path through history they
chose providing our viewers a single internet source to
learn the life history of each of the soldiers that
served in the ranks of the 22nd Virginia Infantry
Regiment, from who they were and what they did before
the war, their actions during the war, and their lives
after the war.
It goes without saying that we spend
several hours a week, trying to dig up new information
about the 22nd Virginia Infantry. As a re-enacting unit,
we strive to make the soldiers of the 22nd Virginia
Infantry come to life. So if you were to walk into our
camp, you will feel as if its the 1860's. We strive to
do everything as accurate as possible.
If you would like to contribute any
material no matter the size of the story, (prewar, war,
or postwar) for our archives - such as memoirs,
photographs, and letters on the members of the 22nd
Virginia, please contact us at
22ndvainfantry@pa.net.
If any way possible, if you are sending large files via
the internet, please email me first. My internet
provider sometimes doesn't download large files and in
that case we prefer if you send us a copy of the content
to us.
Once the articles or photos are
online, we give credit where credit is due. For example,
if you send us a photo, you first name initial (J) along
with your last name (Doe) will be as who submitted the
content. We do this because some people are
uncomfortable with their whole name spelled out on the
internet. Even when you email us asking about an
ancestor, we do the same thing. So far it has kept
everyone happy. If an article comes from a source such
as the West Virginia State Archives we will list them as
the main source with the volume number and year, incase
you want to obtain a copy you can get online and contact
them directly.
As always, if you have any questions
or comments that could help us expand or improve our
archives on the knowledge of the 22nd Virginia Infantry,
please send it to us. As always, thank you for your
help.
Sincerely,
Lt. Colonel John A. Miller; 22nd
Virginia Infantry Regiment
