B. Teaford - My ancestor is Fleming Sarver his
residence was Craig Co. VA. He enlisted on 27 Feb 1863
at the age of 30 as a private in Company D, 22nd VA inf.
He was captured at Droop Mountain, WV on Nov 6, 1863 and
went to Camp Chase, Ohio then to Fort Delaware, DE until
the end of the war. In the 1880's he moved with his
family to Andrew Co., MO where he died in 1906.
M. Sims - Henry Edmund Sim is my great, great,
great grandfather. He is buried in Putnam County, West
Virginia. I have been researching my family and found
information concerning him. I was attempting to find
what regiment he served with. The Sims Simms property
was located near the Scary Creek battle site
B. Crowder - I am the great grandson of John
Milbee, he served in Company A with his 3 brothers
William, Martin and James. At the start of the war the
family name was Milby, during the war the spelling was
changed to Milbee. All four brothers were from the Mouth
of Poca, Putnam County, Virginia (now West Virginia).
James and James L are the same person. The info about
going to King's Medical College, being an assistant
surgeon and practicing medicine in Putnam County and
Charleston belong to John.
S. Brown Jennings - Joshua Brown was my
ggggrandfather. (The Josie to which Lorena refers was my
gggrandfather.) Joshua's grave lists that he served as
an officer in the 7th Virginia Cavalry, but I can find
no record of him. My hypothesis was that he served with
a Virginia Militia Unit that was attached to the 7th.
Much of the seventh cavalry records have been lost.
Family folklore has him surrendering his sword at
Appomattox, but you know how family stories go! I am not
sure, but I think he is also connected to Robert Brown
of Kanawha who served for the northern troops.
M. Smith - SCV, Camp 1424, Gainesville, FL.-
My maternal gg grandfather is Lt. Floyd S. Gore, Company
G, 22nd Virginia Infantry, who served throughout the
WBTS. He was from Logan County (W) Va., enlisted as a
pvt. at Charleston (W) Va. at the beginning of conflict,
was wounded at Droop Mountain (broken arm and
leg....probably from Union artillery). Participated on
all major engagements of 22nd. Furloughed at Charleston
W. Va. in '65.
P. (J. P. B., Jr.) - My great grandfather,
John Lee Bess served in Company G of the 22nd Virginia
Infantry. He was wounded in the left arm at Lewisburg
and received a medical discharge a few months later as
he was unable to use that arm for the rest of his life.
The miniball was still in his shoulder when they buried
him in February of 1913.

Capt. (USAF) and Mrs. W. Hepler-The two
members in question are James D. Beckett, and his
father, William F. Beckett. We believe that James was a
member of the Rocky Point Greys, specifically, in Wise's
Brigade, and eventually, in Echols brigade. My wife is
attempting to justify a lineage for the Daughters of the
Confederacy, and these two men would be her Maternal
Great Great Grandfather and GGG Grandfather
respectively.
J. Craft-my great-great grandfather James
Fredrick Craft... He could be listed as James Craft or
Fredrick Craft on the official records of the 22nd Va
Inf Regt...
W. Miller-I'm trying to get information on
John (ol Jack) Acord and Robert Acord, which served in
the 22nd Va., such as enlistment dates, discharge dates,
etc.
D. Nelson-My great-great grandfather, Thomas
Ingram Stone was killed at Lewisburg, May 27, 1862. His
son, George Washington Stone, was present when his
father died. These men came from Henry County. I am not
sure how they came to be in the 22nd, if indeed they
were.
C. Herndon-Looking for service record of
George N. Cofer. He enlisted 5/30/1861 and was wounded
at Cedar Creek 10/19/64 and died at the Richmond Old
Soldier's Home 7/2/1919.
D. Halstead-From the family history book I
have it shows 12 Halstead served with the 22nd and 2 in
the 36th. I'm very interested in learning more about the
22nd. Many of my decedents fought in the various
companies of the 22nd. Do you have any pictures or info
on any Halstead, Miller, Mann, Meek, Wiseman, and
Campbell?

should look, please let me know.
D. A. Seals-My g-g-grandfather, Nathaniel
(Nathan) Wilson Withrow, was in the 22 Va Infantry, Co A
(1st Kanawha Regiment) in Putnam County, VA (WV). I
discovered this fact at the Clayton Genealogy Library in
Houston, Texas. They had a copy of the Confederate
General Index cards. According to his card, he was
listed as a private/private Private Nathaniel W. Withrow
