Why a Non
Spectator Event?
Many of you may be
questioning why this national event would be a
non-spectator event? There are a few very good reasons why
the first being that no one is willing to finance the old
mega events of the past they being too costly to provide
the logistics necessary to support the pubic attending the
event. Another reason is the cost of liability insurance
to cover this type of event as we all know these types of
coverage’s have literally skyrocketed since 9 / 11,
frankly it makes it too risky for investors especially
with the sharp decline of the numbers of re-enactors still
active in the hobby today. The non-spectator event becomes
more prominent each year due to these and many other
factors.
There are many great
advantages to the non-spectator events that we support.
One of the biggest reasons is the events are put on for
re-enactors by re-enactors. They are not profit driven
rather 100% of the proceeds are for preservation. Some of
the huge advantages are; the schedule will be run much
earlier in the day so the families are given ample time to
go tour local attractions, shop, or participate in planned
on site activities. There are no exotic rules other than
the usual rules of safety used at all MAIN STREAM events.
There is no rabid event staff to make your life miserable
from the time you hit site. The families are permitted to
camp on the company streets if they desire. We maintain a
period impression throughout the weekend and the pace is
far less demanding. It is reenacting the way it should be.
The object of these
events are to put the fun back in the hobby and turn it
around and make it grow again by being family friendly,
top quality, and just good old fashion fun without all the
hardships that a spectator event produces. If you haven’t
tried this format you are missing a great time. Come out
and enjoy, this one is for us, the re-enactors.
