People Making The News

Richard C. Broome, Jr. was recently installed as pastor of Weller United Methodist Church, Thurmont.

He graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1990 and was ordained in 1993. Prior to entering seminary, he graduated from Frostburg State College in 1973 and was a banker from 1974 to 1985. From 1984 to 1986, he was pastor of the Church of the Living Christ in LaVale, associate pastor of Centre St. UMC in Cumberland MD from 1986-1991 and from 1991-2006, was pastor of Mt. Savage UMC in Mt. Savage, MD.
Broome and wife, Beth, reside in Thurmont, and are the parents of three children and six grandchildren.

Worship services for Weller UMC are Sundays at 8:30 a.m. for traditional and 11:00 a.m. for contemporary. Nursery is provided for both.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. with opportunities for all age groups.

M & T Shear Magic of Thurmont recently welcomed Beth Ohler to their team of stylists.

Beth is a licensed cosmetologist who can handle all your styling needs. Beth specializes in color and foil highlighting skills and works Wednesday and Saturdays at the salon.
Beth is a Thurmont native and graduate of Catoctin High School. She is married and has one daughter.

After working in Frederick for several years, Beth says she is happy to be closer to home.

M & T Shear Magic, at 131 East Main Street, is open Tuesday through Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome.

Other stylists a the salon include owners Missy Gilliam and Tammy Fox, Jody Hahn, Karen Willard, Dawn Roberts and Pam Icard. The salon offers cuts for men, women and
