Kindergarteners from Emmitsburg Elementary School helped The New Forest Society of northern Frederick County to plant trees in celebration of Arbor Day.
The students visited New Forest Society’s grow out station on Old Frederick Road to plant River Birch trees into pots which will eventually be transplanted
along stream beds as buffers.
The New Forest Society also planted trees with Mother Seton School on a separate occasion.
Structural Systems of Thurmont, who has been an active in volunteer efforts which help the environment, provided help in planting the trees. Structural System
also recently helped plant 10,000 trees in the Frederick County watershed area.
The New Forest Society is a five year old organization dedicated to the protection of natural resources which impact the watershed area in northern Frederick
County.
