Mr. Clair Cullison

Clair Buck Calvin Cullison, 70, of Emmitsburg, died suddenly Monday, April 14, 2008, as a result of an automobile accident on his way home from work in Pennsylvania.

Born Jan. 7, 1938, in Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey Edgar and Laura Gertrude (Winebrenner) Cullison. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Josephine (Poulson) Cullison in 1997.

Buck worked for 31 years with the Freeman Shoe Co. in Emmitsburg, and was also a part time bartender and cook. He then worked for the Beck's Manufacturing Plants, first in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and currently in Greencastle, Pa., as a pipe fitter and welder. He was a member of the Gettysburg VFW Post 15, Adams County Fireman's Association, Fairfield AMVETS Post 172 (life member), Adams County Fish & Game (life member), Catholic War Veterans, Greenmount Fire Company, Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association (life member), Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 1562 in Littlestown, Pa., and the Gettysburg American Legion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country from 1956 to 1958. He was of the Catholic faith, and loved all types of cars, and his many pet dogs and cats.

Surviving are children, Lisa A. Cullison and companion, Scott Albright of Emmitsburg; Kevin Buck G. Cullison of Emmitsburg; and Mark T. Bowers formerly of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Ashley D. Scott of Emmitsburg, and Victoria and Jessica Bowers, both of Thurmont; brothers and sisters and spouses, John E. and Kate Cullison of Fairfield, Pa., Genevieve and Nelson Utz of Hanover, William and Terry Cullison of Gettysburg, Pa., Margaret and Dave Sprankle of Biglerville, Kathryn and Gene Pottorff of Gettysburg, Pa., and Donald and Sharon Cullison of Fairfield, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is his long-time companion, Evelyn Sis Wolfe, and her children, Monica and Monty Mummert.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Charles E. Cullison in 1973, and by infant brothers, James and Harvey Cullison.

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Paul M. Murphy, C.M. from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Emmitsburg officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. The family will receive friends 9 a.m. Saturday, until the time of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terry Brown, Jason Andrew, John, Bill, Donald, and Michael Cullison, Frank DeGroft, and Ashley Scott.
