 Mrs. Lena Humerick

Mrs. Lena Virginia Humerick, 91, formerly of Emmitsburg, died Monday, November 14, at the Gettysburg Hospital, Pa. She was the wife of Leroy Washington "Jack" Humerick, who died November 22, 1987.

Born August 1, 1914 in Thurmont, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Dora Miller Eyler.

Mrs. Humerick was a life member of Weller United Methodist Church, Thurmont. She had been employed as a custodian at Taneytown Elementary along with her husband. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles, crocheting, loved birds, flowers and cooking. She and her husband lived in Frizzelburg, Md., for 25 years.

Surviving are a son, Earl E. Humerick and fiancé Doris Baker of Fairfield, Pa.; a daughter-in-law Brenda Humerick of Millers, Md.; two granddaughters, Dionne Favorite and husband Rick of Emmitsburg and Toni Humerick of Millers, Md.; four great-grandchildren, Trevor Ellenburg, Cori Lantz, Cheyenne Favorite and Ethan Favorite; a sister, Viola Ott of Thurmont; two brothers, Ralph Eyler and wife Peg and Lee Eyler and wife Josephine, all of Thurmont; and a sister-in-law, Millie Eyler of Sabillasville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two children, Allen L. Humerick and Janice Humerick; two sisters, Verona Wetzel and Virgie Bentz; and four brothers Ross Eyler, Vaughn Eyler, Lloyd Eyler and Earl Eyler.

Mrs. Humerick is at the Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont, where friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, November 17. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

On Friday, November 18, Mrs. Humerick will be removed to the Weller United Methodist Church, 101 North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, where she will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time services will begin with her pastor, the Reverend Ruth Ann Ward, officiating.

Interment will be in Weller Cemetery, Thurmont. Bearers will be Ricky Favorite, Trevor Ellenberg, Wayne Hooper, Lee Ott, Jim Bentz, Bonnie Ott and Dick Ott.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Humerick to Weller United Methodist Church, 101 North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, MD 21788.
