Mr. Louis A. O'Donoghue, 31, of
Wayne, N.J., died Wednesday, Jan.
22, 2003 at Memorial Sloan Kettering
Hospital, N.Y.
He was the husband of Yvonne
Jimenez O'Donoghue, his wife of six
months. Born in Washington, he was
the son of Louis B. and Carol Ann
Meyers O'Donoghue of Frederick.
Louis' father, Louis B., is a
founding member of the Greater
Emmitsburg Area Historical
Society. Louis' great-grandfather,
John O’Donoghue, was the
builder of the
Emmitsburg Railroad.
Mr. O'Donoghue had lived in
Fredericksburg and Silver Spring
before moving to Wayne 10 years ago.
He was a sales representative for
Van Natta Mechanical Corporation in
Montvale, specializing in bathroom
fixtures as well as heating and
cooling equipment. Mr. O'Donoghue
received his formal education at
Good Council High School,
Fredericksburg, and also attended
Montgomery College.
He was very interested in
athletics and outdoor sports. He was
an avid fresh water fisherman,
golfer and NASCAR fan. He was a fan
of the Redskins football team. In
his Good Council High School days,
he played football and was
responsible for bringing his team to
win the Maryland State Football
Championship. He accomplished this
by making the winning touchdown with
a painful broken collarbone.
Mr. O'Donoghue enjoyed Texas
family reunions. They were Texas
size in fund and happiness. He
enjoyed soaking in hot tubs and
partying with family members at the
Texas seashore.
Surviving in addition to his wife
and parents are two sisters, Karen
O'Donoghue of Ellicott City, and
Lorrie Grunde and husband Kevin of
Catonsville; and six nieces and
nephews, Ana O'Connor, Mary
O'Connor, Damien O'Connor, Daniel
and Lydia Gonde, and Victoria
O'Donoghue.
The family will receive friends
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday,
Jan. 24, at Vander May Wayne
Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer
Road, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at
8:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the
funeral home, followed by a funeral
Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of
Consolation Roman Catholic Church,
Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Sloan
Kettering Memorial Cancer Center
