Captain Flautt’s Company of
Riflemen was called
up on April 29th,
1813 and was placed into
service. Many of the men who
served in it’s ranks were from
the Emmitsburg area. They
served as a detachment under
the command of Lieutenant
Colonel William C. Miller of
Cecil County. This regiment
was referred to as the 1st
Regiment and several veterans
said they stood guard at Fort
McHenry for about three weeks.
They were discharged on June
29th, 1813.
