Seton Center Thrift Shop Plans Bag Sale for Saturday, May 30

(5/8) The Thrift Shop of the Seton Center, Inc., a nonprofit sponsored work of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, at 16840 Seton Ave. is holding a Bag Sale on Saturday, May 30th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"This is a real opportunity for shoppers; they can get an entire grocery-sized paper bag full of merchandise for just $5," said Sister Ellen Eisenberger, director of the Seton Center.

"The Thrift Shop has recently revamped and upgraded their store, and now sells a wide variety of new and nearly new items. It's like shopping at a department stored, but at very reasonable prices," said Denise Sauvageau, manager.

"The reaction from the community has been very positive. With the recession, people are looking for reasonably priced goods, and business at the Thrift Shop has been way up," Ms. Sauvageau. The Thrift Shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays (other than May 30), from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All revenue from the Thrift Ship is used for Seton Center's Outreach programs, which provides services for people in need, primarily in northern Frederick County. Services include emergency and temporary financial assistance with rent, heat, utilities and prescriptions, referral and information services, supportive counseling, advocating for the needs of the poor and other services. Seton Center's Outreach Services touch the lives of approximately 5,000 people a year.

"We are so thankful for our Easter sponsors and community businesses and individuals who have always stepped up to help us out, despite the tough economic times," said Sister Ellen.

The Seton Center is also seeking donations of quality, gently used clothing and household items. They also request donations of hard drives purchased within the last three years for their recently launched Computer Outreach Program.

The Seton Center has been serving Frederick County for more than 25 years.

The sisters and volunteers of the Seton Center are known for their quality service and simplicity, and for serving clients with respect, genuine care, advocacy and creativity.
