Adams County Fishing and Outdoor Expo

(2/8) The Watershed Alliance of Adams County and Adams County Trout Unlimited have joined forces to sponsor the Adams County Fishing and Outdoor Expo. 2007 is the third year for the event which has been well received and welcomed by the community. The Expo is held to bring outdoor enthusiasm, education and awareness to the community. It is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to learn about what the great outdoors has to offer.

The 3rd Annual Adams County Fishing and Outdoor Expo will be held on March 3 & 4, 2007 at the Buchanan Valley Fire Company. The fire company is located on Route 234, approximately 2 miles off of Route 30 between Gettysburg and Chambersburg. Hours for the event are: Saturday 8am to 4pm; and Sunday 9am to 4pm. Admission is $3 for adults while children under 12 are admitted free. Plenty of free parking is available.

Vendors will be on hand offering a variety of quality hunting, fishing and outdoor merchandise. Free seminars and demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend. Seminar topics include "Traveling & Flyfishing Alaska", "Landscaping for Wildlife", "Prospecting for Trout" and "Trout Fishing in Adams County" as well as fly tying demonstrations. Door prizes will be awarded both days and raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to win one of several donated items. Raffle prizes include an original painting of a brown trout by local artist David Weaver, casting instruction form Tom's Flyfishing Service, and much more! Prize winners will be drawn at the close of the event on Sunday, winners do not need to be present to win. A variety of tasty food will be available all weekend with the proceeds benefiting the fire company.

Proceeds from the Expo enable the Watershed Alliance and Trout Unlimited to help preserve the water quality of Adams County. Examples of the work done by our organizations are: stream restoration projects, water monitoring, stream cleanups and public education about our waterways and watersheds. The fire company also benefits from the event through admissions and food sales. Please visit the Expo on March 3 & 4; it is a great way to support three local organizations while stocking up on all your outdoor needs.
