Glasswork
Glasswork artist and
instructor Leah Powell is teaching one-day workshops
and multi-week classes in several glass-working
disciplines this spring—many of which take advantage
of our in-studio electric kiln.
**Fused Glass** Fused Glass Easter Ornaments
Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Learn glass cutting
and fusing techniques as you make several
beautiful Easter-themed ornamental glass
pendants. You work at your own pace, making this
is a great class for both beginners and

Fused Glass
Candleholder
Saturday, March 10 2-4 p.m.
Create a pair
of votive candleholders by stacking the colored
glass of your choice and fusing the colors in a
kiln. Keep your creations or give them
away as gifts! Perfrect for Easter A great
class for beginners and intermediates, as you
will work at your own pace.

**Explore Stained
Glass** Stained Glass 101 Saturdays, April 14, 21, and 28, 1-3:30 p.m.
Create your own
stained glass panel in this introductory class.
You’ll choose your pattern and glass, then cut,
shape, and complete your panel using the copper
foil method. All tools and materials are
provided. Leah Powell $80 (nonmembers $89);

Glasswork Series
In
addition to our individual classes, we’re offering
two series of beginning glass-working classes this
spring. Learn the difference between fused glass,
stained glass, and glass mosaics as you explore
working in each discipline. Great for beginners and
intermediates, since you’ll work at your own pace.

March Series
Fused Glass Sun Catchers
Tuesday, March 13, 6-8 p.m.
Fused glass is created by
stacking pieces of glass and firing them
together in a kiln to affix the layers. You’ll
design and kiln-fire two sun catchers to create
a pair of beautiful, unique pieces for yourself
or to give as gifts. Leah Powell $21 (nonmembers $24);

Stained Glass Sun Catchers
Tuesday, March 20, 6-8 p.m.
Stained glass is created by
wrapping pieces of glass with copper tape or
lead, then soldering the pieces together. In
this introductory class you’ll make one large or
two small sun catchers. Leah Powell $21 (nonmembers $24);

Glass Mosaic Sun Catchers Tuesday, March 27, 6-8 p.m.
Mosaics are created by attaching
small pieces of glass to any non-porous surface.
Grout fills the space between the glass pieces.
You’ll use clear glass as your background, so
sunlight will show through your sun catcher.

Get Dirty at the Potter’s Wheel
We’re offering several classes this spring that give
you the opportunity to get your hands dirty as you
explore pottery at one of the Arts Council’s new
electric potter’s wheels. Sign up early, since we
limit each class to five so that each student has
access to a wheel.
**Porcelain Clay**
Hand-Building Techniques in Porcelain
Thursdays, March 8-April 12, 6-8 p.m.
Learn to use slabs and
coil of porcelain to make different sculptural
forms. We’ll focus on the potter’s wheel in the
last class. A great hands-on workshop for
beginners or intermediates.

**Dig Deeper**
Intro to Wheel Throwing
Mondays, March 12-April 16, 6-8 p.m.
Have you always wanted to learn
to throw on the pottery wheel? This
beginner-level class is for you! You’ll work at
your own pace and to your own ability in a
relaxing atmosphere as you learn to center and
make well-formed pottery pieces. No
experience required!

**Terracotta Clay**
Combining Hand-Building Techniques with the
Potter’s Wheel
Thursdays, April 5-May 10, 1-3:30 p.m.
In this class you’ll work with terracotta clay to hand-build
original pieces. Those with wheel-throwing experience can use
the wheel to round out their work. You’ll finish the class with
two or three glazed and fired pieces. Some wheel-throwing
experience is recommended but not required.

Thursdays, April 19-May 24, 6-8 p.m.
This class will
concentrate on refining your skills at the
wheel. You’ll also learn new shortcuts and
