Experience the Best of Broadway Here in Gettysburg
Tickets to a Broadway show not part of your
financial plan? You can take a tour of American
musical theater without leaving Gettysburg in our
Best of Broadway class series. Instructor Mary
George has decades of experience as musical director
for local Broadway productions, and she’s designed
each series of three classes to explore a different
example each week of the best Broadway has to
offer—past and present—using recorded scores of
original casts, scenes from movie versions, live
performances by guest artists, and best of all, a
chance to sing along with your favorite songs from
the show! It’s the next best thing to having an
orchestra seat—and a lot easier on the budget!
Best of Broadway: March Wednesdays, March 7, 14, and 28, 6-8 p.m.
This is a great series to take
before seeing this spring’s local high school
musical productions, as we’ll be discussing
Bye Bye Birdie, Godspell, and Hello,
Dolly! each of which will be staged locally
in March. Mary George $64 (nonmembers $71);
$10 for materials
Best of Broadway: April Wednesdays, April 4, 18, and 25, 6-8 p.m.
This series will focus on the
Broadway favorites Anything Goes, Into the
Woods, and Gigi. Anything Goes
will be staged locally in mid-April, so you’ll
have an opportunity to see this m
usical staged
nearby, right after you study it! Mary George $64 (nonmembers $71);
$10 for materials
Best of Broadway: May Wednesdays, May 2, 9, and 16, 6-8 p.m.
This series will focus on
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The King and I,
and Thoroughly Modern Millie, each of
which have local staged productions planned for
late May and early June. Mary George $64 (nonmembers $71);
$10 for materials
Tell Your Story!
**Creative Writing** Fiction and Creative Nonfiction Wednesdays, March 14-April 4, 6-8
p.m.
Have a story you’re just itching
to get down on paper? Whether you’re experienced
or a newcomer to the writer’s desk, this is the
class for you! We’ll examine the basic building
blocks of storytelling, tailoring each class’s
discussion and work to the needs of each writer.
Join us for a chance to shape your words into a
story worth reading! Jenni Eaton $85 (nonmembers $95)
**Polish Your Work** Creative Writing Workshop Wednesdays, April 18- May 9, 6-8 p.m.
You’ve taken a writing class,
you’ve got the basics down, and you’ve even got
a piece or two lying in a desk drawer. Now what?
A writing workshop is an excellent opportunity
to share your piece with fellow writers who will
provide gentle, constructive feedback so you can
fine-tune your writing and take it from “a
piece” to “a masterpiece”! Please provide a
short piece of your work prior to the start of
class. Jenni Eaton $85 (nonmembers $95)
