ARTIST STATEMENT
Jack has been a member of the ACAC since its beginning. He is also a member of the PA Guild of Craftsmen, and other area arts groups. Jack has been in Adams County making pottery since 1979. He maintains a rustic studio in the mountains above Fairfield.

Jack works in many types of clay and firings but currently enjoys reduction fired porcelains and primitive firings. Jack teaches classes and gives workshops in his studio and on-site classes for other groups and organizations.

Jack has worked on many commissions and sells his work locally at Gallery 30. He sells at the Pippinfest in Fairfield and the pottery festival in Renfew Museum in Waynesboro.

Jack is a 1974 graduate of Chambersburg High School and afterwards joined the army in 1975, where he became involved with the Craft Center with Recreational Services. He eventually helped maintain and teach at their ceramic department. After E.T.S., he set up in N.E. Philadelphia where he helped a friend with a commercial pottery supply company and had a third floor apartment studio.

Jack moved to Mount Hope in 1979 and established Hobbitt House Pottery. Jack is self taught but has worked with many potters in his field and enjoys the ceramic art process.
