ARTIST STATEMENT
Since 1991, I have hand-dyed fibers to create
one-of-a-kind quilts, garments and wall
hangings. The process of dyeing and surface
design is a key element of my work, often
combining traditional patterns with a
contemporary twist. Hand dyeing fibers has
connected me to other cultures, both
historically and globally. and has given me the
opportunity to share my knowledge with others.
Over the past 15 years I have been lecturing and
teaching various dyeing classes in the
Mid-Atlantic region, as well as demonstrating
techniques at various festivals and schools.
Being a certified recreation therapist has
allowed me to share my creativity with others.
I have been able to develop hands-on programs
for schools, special needs groups, and community
organizations. I have been the recipient
of several STAR grants.
