AUDITION NOTICE AND SHOW DATE CHANGE***
FOR ACTS OF KINDNESS THEATRE COMPANY'S PRODUCTION OF
THE MUSICAL
HAIRSPRAY

****The dates of the show needed to be moved back a week to the last two weekends in July: July 20-22 and July 27-29.

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD IN THE NEW OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

AUDITION DATES & TIMES
March 31 5-8p.m.
April 1 1-4 p.m.
April 7 1-4 p.m.

A number of male and female roles are available for ages 13-60. If children appear to be a teenager and are incredibly talented, they are encouraged to audition.
Teenage roles must be able to move well/dance.

We suggest for you try to make the March 31 audition if you can so we do not have an overload of people auditioning the last few days like we have had in the past.
We have an evening audition time due to a conflict with the performance space.

Prepare a short song (16-32 bars) to sing that is upbeat and shows your range. Bring sheet music or a CD for accompaniment.  A pianist will be provided. You are encouraged to sing something from HAIRSPRAY or something that is relevant to the characters in the show.

Hairspray delights audiences by sweeping them away to 1960′s Baltimore, where the 50′s are out — and change is in the air. Loveable, plus-size, heroine Tracy Turnblad has a passion for dancin’, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, The Corny Collins Show. Over-night she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love (singing and dancing all the while, of course!) without mussing her hair?
